Test Results for Shoes for Crews Style 5000:
The tests are conducted with the state-of-the-art device, the Mark II Slip-Tester. This Slip-Tester was developed by Dr. Brungraber who has been a Professor of Civil Engineering at Bucknell University and a researcher at the National Bureau of Standards in the field of slip resistance measurement. It applies both horizontal and vertical forces to a shoe sole simultaneously with floor contact, just as the human foot does during walking. It is therefore able to make much more accurate slip resistance measurements on surfaces contaminated with liquids such as shortening, grease, and water. The floor surface for all of the tests is the same piece of used smooth quarry tile taken from an actual restaurant floor. "Grease" used in the tests is used fryer shortening.
